Cooperation Focus by Solidaridad | A Multistakeholder approach on pollution prevention and decarbonization from leather tanneries in South Asia region.

Solidaridad, a 55-year-old civil society organization based in the Netherlands and active in 52 countries,

launched an initiative in 2017 to make leather tanneries in India more sustainable.
In partnership with PISIE, it engaged European and Indian stakeholders to reduce resource consumption and waste.
Results: 50% less water, 33% reduction in TDS, 90% less sulphide, and circular economy practices with reuse of sludge and waste.
Over 500 enterprises involved in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Ethiopia. Evidence and collaboration prospects will be the focus.
